I love, love, love peppermint mochas. They’re my favourite thing of the winter season and I could spend my entire mortgage at Starbucks buying those delicious things. But, that’s not really feasible. Luckily, I grow my own mint and can make my own coffee. That means, if you put them together, and you got yourself some delicious peppermint coffee.
I usually end up placing a tea ball into my coffee with some mint leaves and let that soak for a bit. I may also try adding some mint leaves to my french press to get a better flavour. The best is adding crushed peppermints to the top of a chocolate milky, whipped cream coffee. But, I save those for special occassions.
Mint often grows into an unruly mess of deliciousness. It smells amazing and can be used for so many things! Like mint coffee ice cubes, ready for those winter months.
Step 1. Grab some mint.
Step 2. Wash off your mint and put to the side.
Step 3. Grab an ice cube tray and add in your mint leaves. Chop or rip them to fit into the ice cube trays, if needed.
Step 4. Fill halfway with coffee and place in freezer.
Step 5. Once frozen, or mostly frozen, fill the remainder of the tray with coffee and place in the freezer.
Come time for your winter coffee, just pop one of these in and enjoy the peppermint taste! These have a shelf life of about 2-3 months. After that they kind of get shriveled up and gross. You can also freeze them with water!
