Eating in Paris can be the most delicious and enticing thing about the city. Eating anywhere in France is just as exciting. For my birthday in Avignon, I got to pick the restaurant we went to (obvs), but I didn’t care; every single restaurant was delicious. Of course, this isn’t always true, but hell, they’re better than heading to the Applebee’s.
Ah, oui, Deux Magots. Where Hemingway and the like used to hang out, Deux Magots is right next to Cafe Flore, another insanely popular and infamous restaurant in St. Germain-des-Pres. While the coffee is exquisite and handed to you in a fancy little manner, the food is slightly better than average. My go-to is always a croque monsieur, as I love the delicious simplicity of it.
You will be going here for the atmosphere and the wonderful people-watching (it took three tries, but I finally snagged a great seat out in the soleil!). All you need is a good book or fashion magazine and a free afternoon.
Deux Magots: 6 Place Saint-Germain des Prés, 75006 Paris, France
World-famous hot chocolate. I must say, the hot chocolate is pretty damn good. I’ll definitely say that their sweets are even better. The place is fancy, which adds up since it is across from the Tuileries Gardens and on rue Rivoli. It’s very touristy, but still a delight to visit!
P.S. The lighting sucks for selfies.
Angelina’s. Multiple locations, but only one that counts: 226 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris, France
A Canadian pub/restaurant that serves delicious brunch and will youtube how to cook an over-easy egg if you so choose to have one. This is where I had a cafe au lait, jack daniels, and then a shot at 11:00am.
The Moose: 16 Rue des Quatre Vents, 75006 Paris, France
A delicious and decently priced place to grab thai food down rue blah blah blah. I’ve only ordered take-out from here and it’s always bumping. Again, another happy stumble.
Monthai: 84 Rue Montorgueil, 75002 Paris, France
Guys, I fell head-over-loafers for Pierre Herme macarons. Shit, does this place do some delicious patisserie goodness. The macarons beat out Laduree. Yes, I said it. They’re way better, and possibly cheaper (maybe. still beyond expensive, but worth it), than Laduree. If that’s not incentive enough to try some, I don’t know what is.
Pierre Herme: multiple locations.
Paris New York
This burger joint is my absolute favourite. My friend and I stumbled upon it one night moseying around the Montorgueil area. Everything is delciious AF. My absolute favourite? The waldorf fries, you will not be disappointed.
